A Better Way to Build
Commercial ProjectsMoreton Bay Boy's College, Qld ![]()
The brief here was to construct a 2 storey, fire rated 600m2 four class room building on an environmentally sensitive site, during the school term (construction noise was a major concern) in a limited timeframe. The construction began in late August, was completed to ‘lock up’ in September and handed over in December some 2 months ahead of schedule. There was a minimum of disturbance to the ecologically sensitive site and virtually no disturbance to the students in adjacent classrooms. The scope required a high STC (sound transmission) and using Force 10’s unique floor system, we far exceeded the scoping requirements. The picture depicts the ‘mega-anchor’ and floor system used which was a key element in beating the timeframe and was in place in 5 days. Rainworth State School, Qld
Force 10 has constructed a custom build new Resource Centre/Library for Rainworth State School in record time. The Resource Centre is a 368 sq metres structure which has ten separate rooms (such as a Multi-media room, Video/audio room, Library and Seminar room). Man hours for construction of the building to ‘turnkey’, was only 2.2 hours per square metre – a phenomenally fast and efficient turn around. Cameron Bartlett, Construction Manager for the job has been delighted with the rapid progress of the project; “It has been a pleasure to work with Rainworth State School staff and on the project which is part of the Federal Government’s Nation building stimulus package. The Force 10 building system has once again proved itself as a versatile, cost-effective and extremely durable structure and due to the fast turnaround, the building will be delivered before the nominated completion date which is a source of satisfaction for all concerned. ” Stage 2 of the project is well underway. Cameron Bartlett explains “the builder’s challenge here is to use a difficult space being an 8 metre drop embankment to ensure maximum play space for the children”.
Gove Office , Qld
The Australian government is the tenant of an administrative office of 840 Sq. Metres. This is a large, open plan office requiring large internal spans and the Force 10 steel frame lent itself readily to this. In addition, the Termite issue in the area was a further deciding factor in awarding the contract to Force 10. Force 10’s comprehensive supply policy, which ensured that everything to ‘lock-up’ was supplied and delivered in secure containers solely by Force 10 was the clinching factor. In a remote area, with a guaranteed supply chain being the critical factor, Force 10 was the first choice.
Mining
Construction Camp, PNG
The key challenge for this project was to design, manufacture and supply a 1,100 man Mining Construction Camp in less than 3 months! In addition, the brief was to ensure ALL components to turn key were included in a self – contained ‘package’ destined for a very remote location... The picture depicts part of the 1,100 man camp currently under construction in Papua New Guinea. This major project tested Force 10’s ability to supply Accommodation, Ablution, Dining, Medical and Recreational facility structures for over 1,100 men in less than 3 months. Force 10 are also helping organise construction workers and supervision on site. The versatility of the Force 10 product has proved to be an excellent match for the difficult conditions in PNG; Remoteness, Tropical downpours, Earthquake zone, Termites and not least catering for the diverse needs of over 1,000 people. The brief also called for very fast on site construction as the accommodation and facilities are urgently required to support the extraction of the Liquified Natural Gas.This major manufacturing, construction and logistical program is being project managed by Force 10 and our Mining Accommodation strategic partnership with GCC Services trading as ACS in Australia. |
